Hi
I'm Siyamthanda
I'm a designer whose interests lie in film & television, graphic design, web development, IT education, and devOps.
About Me
My path to computer science started in high school when I chose to do I.T. as a subject. At the time, I still didn't have much computer literacy, and I had never owned a laptop. Nevertheless, I threw myself into programming and fell in love with it.
Conversations with teachers and a lot of investigation led me to apply to the University of Pretoria to pursue a
BSc in Computer Science 😎
Pursuing my degree has been the most challenging thing I have ever undertaken but it has also been the most rewarding. Through it, I have grown in ways I couldn't even have imagined - not only in terms of my technical skills but also in terms of my psyche. I'm ultimately grateful to have made it to my final year, and I'm excited to see what's in store for me when I join the industry later this year 🎓.
I started out in graphic design in 2020 as a way to occupy my time during COVID. Inspired by one of my all-time favourite artists (🐝😏), I started off with making themed collages, which I called ''digital compositions'' at the time.
It became a small hobby that I enjoyed, but when a close friend asked me to design an invite for their upcoming birthday party, it occurred to me that I could start creating work for people professionally. I started off by doing posters and invites before moving on to logo design and brand identity, especially.
It was during my second year of university when I had a revelation: I wanted to finish university with more than just a degree. I really wanted to be able to reflect and know I had built something meaningful in these four years.
It was then that I decided to register my graphic design company and open a graphic design studio, Ronoh Media 😝 in 2022. It's been a real whirlwind of learning, making a lot of mistakes and trying to provide a professional service with not much guidance on how to go about it.
It was a massive milestone for me, and I'm really proud of the work we have already done. You can check out Ronoh Media, who we are and what we do here 👇🏾

Blue Crane Space 🔭
is a STEM-centered society whose focus lies in launching in early 2020. I stumbled across them and became a part of their engineering department, which was working on a rocket, Blue Crane Space I. Since then, I have developed a profound respect for engineering; it's a ton of work. Additionally, I was looking for a way to utilize my software development tools as well.
At the time of its launch in 2023, Blue Crane Space had no computer science department. When I was designing merchandise for the society, I learned that the department was set to launch in 2024 and would require a coordinator. Eager to contribute, I promptly submitted my application and was thrilled to be selected as the Department Coordinator for the Computer Science Department 🥳
Being the coordinator is an endeavor I find rewarding since it's a massive opportunity to create an environment that fosters generosity and encourages people to come learn. I'm also very honored to be part of a phenomenal group of people dedicated to building a STEM organization that reflects the world, particularly our country.

Outside of Work
I also have a few side projects that I'm working on, like a party game I'm developing with some friends of mine. It's something I'm working on when my time isn't occupied by schoolwork. I've also realized that side projects like these are ways for me to collaborate with people who aren't developers, as some of the friends I'll be working with are illustrators. Working with people outside my field of study has been a real gift to me and has required me to expand my mind. I'm excited to see where it will take me next🔥
Being multi-faceted, I usually find myself drawn to different things at different times. This year I've taken an interest in photography, and I'm hoping to get myself a camera by July of this year 😎. After finishing my degree, I'm hoping to do a bit of traveling with some friends of mine and put the new photography skills to use.
